Anderson headlines Gatecon 2008

Many Stargate fans already planning to go to Gatecon 2008 in Vancouver, British Columbia next year. Now, they have greater reason to be excited about attending.
The staff of Gatecon recently announced on their Web site that actor Richard Dean Anderson (Jack O'Neill)will be a guest at the 2008 convention, being held August 21st through August 24th. Anderson joins a list of already announced guests which include Andee Frizzell (Wraith Queen), Cliff Simon (Baal), Gary Jones (Harriman), Corin Nemec (Jonas Quinn) and more!
Gatecon 2008 is focusing its fund-raising activities on The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, a charity designed to protect the oceans and ecosystems of the world. The charity is just one of the many causes that are important to Anderson.
"I'm looking forward to it. I've never done it before," he said in reference to the convention. "I've been spending a lot of the time away from television and show business to spend more time with my daughter and support other causes. I guess now's the time. I've working for other things, and I appreciate the people who have been so supportive all along."
As a bonus, Gatecon has confirmed that Anderson will be in attendance and participating in the entire weekend festivities. The convention, being held at Vancouver's Sheraton Wall Centre, will continue to add more guests in the weeks and months to come.
Tickets are scheduled to become available for Gatecon 2008 toward the end of this month. More information on the convention is available on Gatecon's Web site, in addition to a mailing list you can add yourself to for updates as they happen.
