GABIT Events is bringing two very special fan gatherings to Vancouver, British Columbia in 2010! The group behind the intimate (and always sold out) “Amanda Tapping – A Weekend with Her Fans” events in the U.K. is now bringing Amanda and former SG-1 leading man Richard Dean Anderson to Vancouver.
The Sanctuary Experience is being called the first “official” Sanctuary convention, drawing fans of Amanda Tapping’s (“Samantha Carter”) new fantasy series. The event will be held from July 30 to August 1, 2010. This is a charity event, with proceeds going to benefit Tapping’s new charity initiative Sanctuary For Kids.
There is no guest list for the event yet, but GABIT says that the convention will include “the main cast, directors, writers and as many of the other talented people at Sanctuary productions who are able to drop in over the course of the weekend.”
Just a few days later is Meet the Man, the first-ever solo event for SG-1‘s Richard Dean Anderson (“Jack O’Neill”). Anderson is notoriously shy when it comes to public appearances, but indicated that he had a great time at the 2008 Gatecon event. Hopefully it’s a sign of more to come — Gatecon’s 2010 event was also just announced, though the guest list is pending.
“Meet the Man” will take place from August 5 to 8, 2010, kicking off with an exclusive cocktail party with Rick, limited to 80 people. Total attendance will be limited to around 350 tickets, keeping the event small and intimate, like Amanda’s U.K. events.
The next Amanda-only event, AT4 – Reflections, will be held in London this November. Tickets reportedly sold out minutes after going online.
Watch the GABIT Web site for news on ticket availability in the months ahead, and keep up with all the Stargate actor appearances we can find throughout the year by using GateWorld’s Conventions Calendar!
