You guys should’ve made it like there was a duplicate of one of you joining in that conversation.

Fun idea! Though had we done that it would’ve likely taken weeks to get the show out. That and it would’ve been confusing as heck.

Nevermind, you gave us the extended version, almost twice the usual duration and it was awesome! And since a lot of people seemed to be confused about the time paradox, thanx for clearing that up.Within the stargate mythos and modern scientific views on time travel it adopts, there was no time paradox at all.
Very interesting discussion on what I agree is the best SGU episode so far.

Guys, i don’t feel like leaving a voicemail or sending an email,But, i have a question you guys may discuss, here it is, “Any idea what would happen if Destiny makes an FTL Jump within an star?” They never discussed that within the show and im pretty sure eli has never gotten that idea either..Just curious…

What we need is Daniel Jackson to use the stones… He would drool on all the consoles and the bridge… xD

I think Destiny would blow up if that happens. FTL doesnt open up a subspace window like what would happen in hyperspace. Pretty much FTL is just going 10 times faster than sublight. Source: SGA season 3 episode 10

puddlejumper_1 You mean 10 times faster than light, right?Yeah I agree, since it doesn’t use a hyperspace jump,it would explode within a star.if it could use the hyperspace tech and opened up a window inside a star, that star would go supernova.

@Jim Yeah I guess 10 times faster than light. I just used what happened in SGA season 3×10 as measurement. Seeing how the Atlantian Battleship was going about 10 times faster than the Daeduleus was when it was at max sublight. And the FTL drive is one thing I hate about on SGU, its much slower than hyperdrive tech. Btw the situation very much similar to Star Trek Enterprise in that they were using old technology versus the technology we were use to from TNG. I can just imagine what would happen if Destiny can come home back to Earth,… Read more »

and , Didn’t they explain that when your in FTL Mode, isn’t time much slower within the ship??? Because i remember in Atlantis,They said when they found the ancient battle ship, the crew members on board only experienced 10 years, but it was actually 10,000 years, due to the FTL effect. So,what iam asking is, Is the same thing happening to Destiny when they are in FTL? i mean, if the same thing IS happening,Then 1 hour in FTL would only be like 1 minute on Earth….

As O’neil would say..”time is relative.” Yes I think you are correct though

I have a question for Darren & David.
Just before the “quibbles” section, you guys were discussing how “scifi meaty” Twin destinies was as an episode and would have more eps like this one and “time” been “helpful” in saving SGU from cancellation. Would it be possible to have a Podcast on that issue as I feel it is a very pertinent question for both those who love SGU, and those who were “less than happy” with SGU

Cheers

@puddlejumper_1 Ah,I remember. But see, that was not the same situation as it is with Destiny. You’re right,Atlanteas were travelling at 10xspd of max. sublight in that ep.only approaching the speed of light, which is why according to the theory of relativity, time had been slowed up for them all the while. And that is completely scientifically sound. But that was only because their FTL drive was broken, damaged in a battle,if I remember it correctly. Now Destiny has an operational FTL drive which means that that they must be using some kind of a warping space technology, like in Star Trek to travel ftl.Since that kind of a… Read more »

Yeah the situations just seemed similar to me, but even if Destiny can go faster than that Atlantian Battleship, hyperdrive is still very much faster. However not fast enough to catch up to Destiny for several hundred years. So Destiny’s only hope is to keep moving forward, and hope that these possibly new aliens or God for that matter can send them back home, or toward the Ori Galaxy. If they can get to the Ori Galaxy they could use their supergate and gate back to the milkyway

, Now,Destiny going threw a supergate…Now that would be some awesome eyecandy to see, and would be epic…But,that brings a new question to my head, What would happen if Destiny activated its on-board stargate to dial another planet, and have a open wormhole on-board while it passes threw a active supergate in space to another supergate… I mean, would that cause a major explosion and twist the space time, i mean, an active on-board stargate on destiny passing threw an active supergate at the same time… think about it..Transferring a open wormhole threw another open wormhole,is that possible?!?!?!?

puddlejumper_1

That would be interesting, lol it probably could happen. I mean if one stargate can open a worm whole to every stargate in the galaxy then hey that might be possible. And yes I hope they do have some sort of supergate for Destiny to go through because even though its an outdated ship, it would be a great ship to have, especially once its souped up with asgard tech and some new light bulbs!

& Lol!!It’s exactly that sort of exploring of these amazing options and opportunities that saddens me the most,we won’t be able to see, cause of the cancelation. That’s the saddest part of Stargate ending.

Speaking of which, there is that wormhole drive, introduced in SGA finale…that’s pretty fast!

@Jim Yeah I agree with you. No hate towards SGU, but that’s one of the big mistakes I think SGU took, which was cutting ties between SG-1 and SGA. They said they wanted SGU to be its own show, and have it to where the viewer didnt have to see the previous shows to understand whats going on. And the wormhole drive is a cool feature, but I hate to see Atlantis lose its last zpm’s to get people home. I doubt there are anymore fully powered zpm’s lying around too Man, I just really hope this ins’t the last… Read more »

I know,I mentioned it only as an example. We’ve seen some pretty amazing and powerful things along the way..all three series included. So it need not specifically be wormhole drive or zpm,it could be something even more powerful. That is the point of exploration and stargate expeditions. That’s how and why this last one started as well, before the attack and ensuing events. And that’s something this last one has been returning to..lately more than ever before. So yes Stargate definitely needs to go on,I really want it to.But we don’t always get what we want.:)

Yea the wormhole drive can definately catch up to destiny. It took atlantis like two seconds to get from pegasus to the milky way. if they can somehow reverse engineer it and build one on destiny they both can get back to the milky way.

@shermacidal Hate to burst your bubble about the wormhole drive (WD) coming to the rescue. I think you have forgotten that when the WD was used to move Atlantis into Earth orbit the city was “just beyond the edge” of the Milky Way. A distance of approx 100,000 light years, give or take a few thousand (MW is about 100,000 ly in diameter). This relatively short jump so depleted the city’s ZPM’s so much that the crew couldn’t power the shield and the sub-light drive (to maintain orbit) at the same time. Hence the kinetic energy from the Super hive’s… Read more »

@Jim Yeah I gotcha man, finding new technology is one of the cool things I like about stargate. And screw not getting what we want lol. Brad Wright and MGM told us all we would be getting movies, even cast members of the show use to say, the fans kept them going. Well the fans are still here and we want to keep going. Heck, the very least the actors could make some youtube videos, like a thanksgiving video or a fishing trip of them getting together catching up. And the good thing is it’s free. As funny as that… Read more »

,, Above,***spoiler alert***EP:COMMON DESCENT
Destiny discovers the survivors of an interplanetary expedition who claim their civilization, Novus, was founded two thousand years earlier by Destiny‘s crew,Now,i wonder if they have any technological advances or even have technology, humans, from earth, getting more advanced then earth ever did, half way accross the universe, hey, thats probably possible xD.

I hope thats true
I can’t tell you how much I’ve been waiting for an episode like that for SGU. I hope these guys have the ability to make clothes too, because I feel sorry for Eli having to wear the same thing for years.

the episode kinda sucked, it was predictable they couldve done alot more with the concept. The writers are still trapped in their old formula, I wish they were more open-minded with things and not take the easy road. Too late now so it doesnt matter.
