Scientist stationed with the initial Atlantis expedition into the Pegasus Galaxy. He was irritated by Dr. Rodney McKay and Dr. Radek Zelenka's prime game, which they pitted against Lieutenant Aiden Ford, while they were attempting to survey a flooded pier of Atlantis.
Hays and McKay came into contact with Dumais long before the other members of the survey team, and ergo would have become infected simultaneously. McKay, who possessed the Ancient gene, was forced to watch as Hays succumbed to a hallucinatory virus.
