Leader of the rogue N.I.D. team who posed as a member of IWN's Inside Access camera crew, intending to board the Prometheus and escape Earth with a Goa'ulded Adrian Conrad and Colonel Frank Simmons. Possessing a no-nonsense personality and a short fuse, he was ideal for heading the operation.
The unit's plan was a success initially, taking off from Earth and exiting out of hyperspace at the coordinates where a great cache of weapons were said to exist -- though none were present.
SG-1 intercepted the hijacked X-303 and retook the vessel. Smith and his associates were taken into custody.
