Inhabitant of P8X-412. He had recently become sick, had lost the ability to stand and was becoming a difficult burden for his family. When a Prior arrived at the settlement, he cured Vachna of his sickness, permitting him to get on his feet and return to work. The Prior told him it was the will of the Ori, and afterward he began spreading the word of Origin in thanks.
Vachna was enemies of Azdak, a fervent believer in the not-always-present Goa'uld Qetesh. Azdak insisted that Qetesh would return and slay the Prior and their gods, but Vachna had been told the Prior would return and expose Qetesh for the false god she was.
Vachna again fell ill when a great plague swept through the village and many of its inhabitants. At his disgust, Vala Mal Doran used a Goa'uld healing device to heal him of the malady. Daniel used this to explain to Vachna that knowledge and technology were responsible for healing him, not magic.
But this was not a cure, and soon the virus spread in intensity. It was only after the entire village bowed to the power of the Ori that the Prior used his staff to remove the virus completely, even bringing Azdak back from the dead.
Vachna's devotion to the Ori may earn him a place as a Prior himself one day.
