Planet home to a peaceful population of mind-freed, technologically challenged humans who have, for hundreds of years, relied on a piece of ancient technology, the Sentinel, to provide their protection. The human-built structures are ancient and, if decayed, lay unfixed, as the people have not carried on such knowledge in the recent generations. Instead, they have committed themselves to exploration of the mind.
During SG-9's time on the planet, Latona was very overcast. Many trees cover the uninhabited landscapes, concealing outgrowths of underbrush and small caves, one of which hides the Sentinel.
