THE STARGATE OMNIPEDIA
retrovirus, iratus bug RETROVIRUS, IRATUS BUG
Antidote developed by Dr. Carson Beckett's team on Atlantis in the hopes of extracting the D.N.A. of an iratus bug so that the human D.N.A. is all that remains. It was in it's early experimental stages when he brought four vials of the compound to Zaddik's planet in the hopes of eventually using one on Ellia, a female Wraith.

Unfortunately the retrovirus had the exact opposite effect, neutralizing the Human D.N.A. instead. Ellia eventually lost all sense of who she was and reverted to a purely instinctual level. Colonel Sheppard and Ronon Dex were eventually forced to kill her.

Despite this tragedy, the information gathered at this incident was more than none at all. Since this compound eradicates the human D.N.A., it is at least known that perhaps a reversed serum may remove the genes of the iratus bug.

KEY EPISODE(S) -
Instinct - Dr. Beckett brings samples of the iratus bug retrovirus to Zaddik's planet in the hopes of using Ellia as a willing test subject. To his horror, the compound has the exact opposite effect.
