WHAT TO WATCH DURING SG-1 RERUNS
Stargate SG-1 is going into reruns for a while, with only two new episodes between nowand January. Whatever shall we watch (other than Stargate reruns)? Here are some of the coolest things happening in sci-fi right now:
Dark Angel premiered tonight on FOX. The near-future mix of elements from "The Pretender," "Angel" and "Blade Runner" will surely be a success. Go ahead and let "The X-Files" retire already, FOX -- you've got a winner here.
In case you've been living in a hole for the last month, Babylon 5 is running in widescreen format (for the first time anywhere) on The Sci-Fi Channel in the United States. If you aren't already a fan of J. Michael Straczynski's twenty-third century universe, take my word for it: get in on this one early! It is without a doubt one of the finest science fiction series - and one of the greatest series overall - in the history of television.
Want a new show to watch this fall? Keep your eyes open for Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, premiering in syndication in the next couple of weeks in the United States. Kevin Sorbo (that's Hercules) stars in this far-future tale of a starship captain taken out of the peaceful Systems Commonwealth and dropped into the middle a dangerous, fractured universe. It may not be Trek, but on the up side it won't be Earth: Final Conflict either.
Last but not least, The Matrix 2 and The Matrix 3 begin filming early next year! Woo hoo!
