Q: What do you want to see in Season Eight?

To say that GateWorld had a record in its letter submissions would be a gross understatement. In the one week that readers were able to turn in their two cents on what they want to see in Season Eight of SG-1, GateWorld received exactly 570 submissions totalling over a megabyte of text. Frankly, we're not quite sure what did it, but we appreciate everyone who submitted a letter! Unfortunately, we're only able to include a small percentage in the page below -- so if you find a letter you wrote, you might have to reevaluate how amazing you are. You beat the less than 0.5 percent chance!

Before we dig into this month's submissions, I'd like to give honorable mention to a handful of creative and ingenuitive letters that did not make it aboard. Most notably to Andrew, who sent in a small text-based diagram (a bomb attacking a compound) he cooked up hoping to see more things explode in Season Eight, as well as to Bonnie who wrote "Jack&Sam!" 42 times in one message. (Sorry, Bonnie. Only one vote per letter!) To the imaginative Pete who hopes Teal'c will issue a cookbook of Chulak delicacies in Season Eight, and last, but not least, to Dan -- who hopes to see Carter in a bikini. I'm with you, buddy.

Just so you feel better if you didn't make it aboard, at the bottom of this page is a count-down culmination of the top ten things (least to most popular) that everyone who submitted a letter want to see in Season Eight. Needless to say, the "shippers" made their voice heard: Jack and Sam togetherness came on top by about 10 times the vote count of everything else.

Nevertheless, you might be surprised with some of the results. Do beware of spoilers from some recent episodes, including "Chimera." Enjoy, and keep an eye out for a new question in the days ahead! - David

I think that for the "humorous" episode of SG-1's last season, I would love to see them do a spoof on "The Wizard of Oz." Since RDA is on a light schedule, they could accomodate him by having an alien turn Jack into a small, black terrier.

Although he has said that he tends to think of himself as the Dorothy of the group, he could probably be talked into Toto. Seriously, I think it would be funny if they gated to a world with Munchkins, etc. They'd have so many gags and one-liners, they'd have a hard time keeping it down to 42 minutes! Besides, we all know that Stargate SG-1 is actually a comedy.

I'd like to see Sam get a life, and move on from the stupid and unconvincing infatuation (or whatever it's supposed to be) with her C.O. After all, she does have a boyfriend now (yay, Pete!) who hasn't been hit by the Carter "Black Widow Of The S.G.C." curse. Let's see him again, or at least have him mentioned frequently.

Finish the "five races!" Who are the Furlings? What the heck happened to the Asgard? Who are the Nox hanging with these days? Plus, are we still kosher with the Tollans? Bring back Parker Lewis (Corin Nemec, "Jonas") -- 'cause he can't lose. What the heck was Daniel doing while he was Casper? And please! Please! Start the season with Kinsey hanging from a tree in O'Neill's back yard!

How about some stories about the little guys at the S.G.C.? There have been stories about training Air Force cadets and about scientists assigned to the S.G.C., but what about some stories about some of the SFs? Also, we see people like Sergent Siler, and Sergent Davis almost every episode since the beginning. Don't these guys deserve an episode? Also, when Carter and Daniel met Thor for the first time, they commented about the similarity to aliens that supposedly crashed at Roswell. Maybe this is a chance for a somewhat humourous story; after all, the Asgard said they have visited Earth many times before.

It would be interesting to see Brad Wright's third part in what was supposed to be a trilogy for the Aschen storylines. Brad's stories are usually very thought-provoking, and I'd like to see what his original plans were for this plotline. Another storyline I'm interested in seeing developed would be the Sarah Gardner character. As Osiris, Anna-Louise Plowman was quite menacing and I'd like to see the follow-up from her freedom from the Goa'uld. What does she feel/think about the things that she did, especially to SG-1? Can they use her memories in their fight against the Goa'uld? Do they trust her?

I understand that Chris is penning another story, but it would be wonderful to see Amanda behind the camera wearing her director's hat once more. Her camerawork in "Resurrection" was very different, and I know that many fans thoroughly enjoyed seeing something new.

I would like to see a definite closure for Sam and Jack's relationship, for good or bad. I think the argument about regulations has been drawn out far too long. It has made the two of them seem like immature children for not being able to discuss their feelings with one another. It has also made for bad continuity -- now it's hinted that they really like each other, now they don't seem to care one bit. I am not expecting steamy sex scenes, nor do I think they fit in with the show, but just seeing Sam and Jack finally sit down, openly acknowledge what is going on and decide where to go from there. Like the President said: they are allowed to have feelings, after all. Just admitting the existance of feelings does not automatically mean acting on them.

I would like to see some present-day follow up to the episode in Season Two called "1969." I would like the team to contact both Michael and Jenny in 2004 and see how they turned out. It is a small part to base a whole episode on, however "1969" was a terrific episode.

Chris Lemanski

There are only two things I'm wishing for in Season Eight. First, I'd like to see what happened to the Tollan. They were always one of my favorite aliens and I'd really like to see if they survived Anubis' attack and then rebelled against their captors after his defeat. The second thing I'd like to see is a live, in-the-flesh Furling. I'm just dying to see if they really are Carebear-esque!

Dan

After watching a particular episode of Buffy, I thought it would be quite amusing to see a Stargate SG-1 musical in Season Eight! I can only imagine the kinds of songs and lyrics our favorite four could possibly sing. Good times.

Alysia

I think it would be fitting to follow up on Jonas Quinn, the Kelownans and the Joint Ruling Council on Langara. I would also like to see a third installment of the Serrakin / Hebridian story arc -- possibly with Sam entering a ship of Earth design into the Loop of Kon Garat. Seeing the Asgard in force again would be nice. It would be cool to see Freyr or especially Heimdall again.

Carey N. Dunn

My wish for the eighth season of Stargate SG-1 is to know whether or not there will be a Season Nine before they finish filming Season Eight. God knows that since Stargate was supposed to end four or five times already and was brought back -- after many threads were tied up and the fandom was dropped fully into the suspense of whether or not there would / should be another season -- that to know ahead of time would be great for us and for the writers.

Pilla

I would like to find out what the ninth chevron on the Stargate is for, and see it used in Season Eight.

Justin

I must admit that during the course of Season Seven I had moments of doubt as to whether having a Season Eight was a good idea or not. A season filled with awkward ship between Carter and O'Neill often detracting from the main focus of an episode had me begging the question, when did this become ShipGate SJ-1? My hopes for Season Eight are that the inappropriate ship between Carter and O'Neill is finally behind us, and that the writers will provide a final season worthy of Stargate SG-1!

Leave the ship behind. Stop killing off our favorite characters. Give us episodes that have that team quality to them that hooked the majority of us starting in Season One. I don't want a Daniel episode, then a Carter episode, then a Teal'c episode and so on and so forth. I want team episodes. These actors work brilliantly with each other! Please put their talents to good use!

And finally, I am begging The Powers That Be: Please do not end this amazingly written, wonderfuly acted and much cherished series with a horribly cliched wedding between Carter and O'Neill. Here's hoping for a ship-free, team-filled Season Eight!

Jack Morrigan

I'd like to see something to do with O'Neills son, like maybe he ascended and there's some technology or machine that allows people living to see and talk with those ascended.

Jen

I would love to see a continuation of the storyline involving Sarah, now that she has been freed from being a Goa'uld. At the end of "Chimera," there was definitely a strong friendship between Daniel and Sarah, and he stated "I'll get you through this." I'd be curious as to how she is getting along in the world now, as we've never really seen how someone could readjust to life on Earth after hosting a Goa'uld. Not only that, but I want to see how her relationship with Daniel is affected, seeing as how they had been involved in the past.

Kirsten

Please give Daniel a pair of glasses that fit. The ones he wore last year were a size too small.

Aeryn219

While a Pacific Northwest forest is always beautiful, certainly every planet the Ancients put a gate on or the Goa'uld terraformed wasn't all Douglas Fir trees and alpine landscapes. That or some more deserts, frozen wastelands, grasslands, etc.

Alex

I'd like to see closure to the genetic engineering problem the Asgard have with reproduction. The most obvious way I could see was to involve Jonas Quinn. The Asgard have mentioned that Jack did not possess the genetic traits that the Asgards needed to solve their problem. More to the point, Jack's brain wasn't advanced enough, despite being able to download the knowledge of the Ancients. In several episodes, Jonas has shown abilities to quickly learn and adapt to new information and the arc continued to allude to the fact that Jonas' brain is more advanced than your garden-variety human.

Kal

I'd be worried about revisiting the Replicators. Their human forms were great, but I'd be fearful of pulling a Borg, i.e. castrating a great enemy. I'd like to not see the Replicators again.

Scott

I'd like to see Anubis' agent finally tell him he's going way over the top!

Sara

The world and the ideas of the Nox have not been explored in SG-1. The Nox are a remarkable creation added to the Stargate universe, yet we virtually know nothing about their philosophy, science, technology and culture.

Ogla Sungutay

I would love to see a Christmas special of SG-1. Teal'c in a Santa hat ... I'd tune in
just for that! Sam and Jack can make out under the mistletoe, and Thor could stop by dressed in tinsil with presents for his favorite humans and Jaffa! And there could be a big Christmas party and everyone is invited -- even the bad guys, under the condition they wear party hats! What an episode that would be.

Jackie

I'd love to see the Re'tu again. They were supposed to be such a serious threat, and yet where are they? I'd also like to see Re'tu Charlie and how he's adjusted to being a Tok'ra.

Kat

My main wish for Season Eight: If this is to be the final season, I urge everyone, actors, production and technical folks, writers -- everyone to give this season all the enthusiasm and heart they can muster. Go out with excellence and pride!
