The next model from Master Replicas is coming soon, and today the company revealed the first-look photos. The Stargate Atlantis Stargate will begin preorders this Friday, Friday, September 20.
The officially licensed piece has been crafted using a digital model from the show, which was provided to Master Replicas by MGM — including each and every pointalist glyph, designed to reflect star constellations in the Pegasus Galaxy.
The new release celebrates the twentieth anniversary of Stargate Atlantis, which premiered on SCI FI Channel in July 2004. The gate measures 9.25 inches (23.5 cm) in diameter, and comes with a display base with the show’s logo. Like the Milky Way gate model it is made of polystone resin.
In the Stargate universe the gates of the Pegasus Galaxy are newer and more advanced, built by the Ancients after they left the Milky Way and settled there several million years ago. Pegasus gates are a sort of “digital” equivalent to the older, “analogue” gates, and are found both on planets and in space throughout the galaxy.
Atlantis‘s production utilized multiple VFX houses during its run, and those vendors actually used different Stargate models throughout the show’s 100 episodes. Eagle-eyed fans will catch numerous shots of space gates with only eight chevrons (which we regard as an error), but fortunately Master Replicas is producing a beautiful, 9-chevron gate.
The Atlantis Stargate will be available to preorder at MasterReplicas.com starting September 20, at a cost of $54.99 USD / £44.99 GBP.
Meanwhile preorders are still open for the Milky Way Stargate model, which has suffered a slight delay. Shipping was originally slated for September but has been pushed back a few weeks, to October.
The gate itself looks great, but I wish they did something a little more unique with the stand, even if they had to charge a little more.
Make it a little bigger and add a clasp to put it around the neck :)P
