A technologically advanced planet once inhabited by a species that are believed to have been wiped out by an overwhelming insect problem.

Giant flying insects now roam the skies of this world, capable of stinging and transforming a subject into numerous members of their own species. Because of this threat, the technology remains unstudied until a way to successfully combat these creatures is developed.
