The Jaffa priestess Ishta, who presided over this ceremony, could not stand idly by and allow her sisters to be murdered. As a counteroffensive, she formed the Hak'tyl resistance and based her group on the planet of that name to secretly spirit away young Jaffa girls from the murderous ceremony.
